Are you a health professional caregiver dealing with health or life challenges, increased personal stress, vicarious trauma, moral injury, or issues with work-life balance or career / life transition?
On a personal note, I am no stranger to the fears, frustrations, and challenges of being a patient in our healthcare system. As a practitioner, working in healthcare almost cost me my life and I wasn't recognizing it until it got to a critical point, until I got really scared. I am all too familiar with what you may be facing... a potentially spiraling path, struggling and suffering silently to deal with or deny your situation, feeling alone and "broken" in spirit. I struggled with my own health challenges and burnout and have learned a lot through my recovery. The fact is that stress is cumulative, and we all know that ongoing, high levels of stress is personally harmful, increases health risks, and compromises safety. We are all subject to numerous stressors and tensions. Seeking personal and customized attention and care seems to be ever more challenging. There are major GAPS in healthcare care and I am wanting to help FILL some of those gaps.
I am here for you! We work together to address the "WHOLE" YOU, identifying what's relevant and important to you... providing effective, meaningful, and personalized attention that empowers and gives you peace of mind and body, and puts your heart & soul at ease.
I am committed to serving and supporting you at my Highest, helping you align with your goals, vision, and aspirations so you can have the quality of life you desire and deserve at any point on your life continuum.

"I'm not sure where to begin, you have helped me in so many ways. I do know this, you really love your job and it shows in your work. You go beyond what you have to do to help people feel better. I know first hand, you have helped me not only physically but also emotionally and I feel better than I have with any other treatments. I think you are a very special person and this world would be a better place if there were more people who had the love and concern for other people and their well-being. I have a very special place for you in my heart and I will never forget you. I wish other people who have chronic pain would realize their are other options out there other than surgery. You will be missed not just by me but others you have given your care and time to. I know I still have a little further to go and I will continue to work hard on getting better. I know you are humble but thanks for the incentive to keep on going. I feel better about myself and yes, I know I have to do my share too. I cannot say enough about you, the words have not been invented yet. Just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you."
"Your presence in my life came just at the right time. It’s as if I opened a window in a stuffy room and finally was allowed to take in and feel the fresh breeze brush against my face...and took a deep breath that reignited a spark in my soul. "
"I had a very bad accident that left me in the hospital for four months. I was devastated as I had a three month old baby at home. On one of my first days in the rehab hospital I was working with Deborah and I think of that session every day. She was the first one to tell me how healing comes as much from the mind as the body. She taught me breathing techniques to help manage the pain. I had braces and casts head to toe and it was something I would not wish on anyone, but Deborah was able to help me stay calm and start regaining my strength from the inside out. She taught me to focus on what I could do instead of despair at my losses. As I progressed in my healing, I was able to start doing physical therapy out of bed and I was very scared. She always gave me the confidence to try even when I didn’t think I was capable. She also taught me techniques in a holistic way, and I’d leave each session not only physically stronger but feeling mentally empowered. She truly understands healing and is so intuitive and gifted as a therapist, healer, and mentor. I am a better person in every way for having the opportunity to work with her."
"There are times in life when you encounter an individual who truly makes a difference in the quality of your life. When Debbie was assigned to us as my mom's physical therapist, we truly felt a need had been answered. As a medical care provider and colleague, it is well known that the body not only heals physically but mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Debbie has a unique ability to address all these levels of care, while providing her client with an aura of compassion, care, and confidence. She provided us with some fresh aspects regarding physical therapy that we had not been given before and it gave my mother, her patient, a new fresh perspective on healing her body and increasing her strength and confidence as she goes forward in her ability to regain her ambulation. A positive mental outcome is 99% of the success of a patient when they find themselves in a physical rehabilitation situation, and witnessing Debbie interact with her patients everyday, and provide the care and expertise she so willingly gives, is a refreshing outlook to medicine today. We feel blessed to incorporate things that she has taught us into our everyday lives and are very fortunate that our paths have crossed with hers."
"I've worked with Debbie for seven years treating patients who have suffered an amputation. She's one of the most caring and compassionate individuals that I have ever met. When she walks into the room you can feel warmth and love enter the room with her. Patients tell me that it's like there's a glow of happiness that surrounds her when they are working with her. I am honored to be her colleague and friend. "
"As a health care educator and administrator I witness first hand the stressors encountered by my new employees, new managers and seasoned staff members. I often think about how I can support my staff during the difficult days. I have known Dr. Howell for more than twenty years in a personal and professional capacity. Dr. Howell’s passion for the both the physical and emotional well-being of her patients led to her observation that not only they, but also their caregivers, needed support. We know that the healthier our caregivers are the better our patient outcomes. Dr. Deborah Howell is a Physical Therapist extraordinaire, community educator, yoga instructor, author, colleague, friend and most importantly supporter of self-care for health care professionals! Dr. Howell’s devotion to her patients is matched only by her aspiration to empower healthcare professionals to practice self-care. In Deborah’s third book, Self-Care in Healthcare, she reminds all of us that the healthier we are the better our patients outcomes. Dr. Howell is my friend, my colleague, and has supported my staff in good times and bad. Compassionate, kind, organized, and knowledgeable, Deborah is the person you want on your team-always!"
"It's hard to put into words what you mean to our family. I knew from the day we got there we were in good hands. You are a very special person. You gave something to our family that we really needed, "Hope." We could have never done it without you."
"Today we met an Angel in disguise. There's a calming just looking in her eyes. Her patient touch brought quiet sighs of relief eliminating painful cries. Thank you Lord for making her so wise. This heavenly gift of an angel in disguise."
"I had a total left knee replacement and my wife and I chose to rehabilitate my leg at home with the help of a physical therapist. We could not have hoped for a more talented therapist than the one that arrived at out door. Mrs. Deborah Howell was not only knowledgeable in the science of physical therapy, she also displayed a sincere interest in my proper recovery. Tough task master she was when it came to the routine physical exercises, also a stickler for detail however mundane. Very astute attitude coupled with unusual skill. I can fully appreciate her work as a physical therapist."
"Debra was my lead physical therapist after I broke my neck and was paralyzed from the shoulders down. She challenged me physically and mentally to overcome my disability. She is an expert on how the mind and body connection work together to achieve optimal results. I would recommend her to anyone looking to better themselves and have a more positive and healthy life."
"I remember that first day when you walked into my room. Your presence got my attention. A kindred spirit had just walked in. The look you had in your eyes, your energy and essence walked in, you didn't have to open your mouth. I didn't feel like I had to protect myself from you. I was so taken by the experience. I wasn't expecting that level of energy. You emanated love, Agape love. To have that quality is precious to me."
"As a physical therapist assistant, I have had the pleasure to have worked directly under the supervision of Dr. Howell in the acute rehab hospital setting for over 5 years. I quickly fell in love with her positive and ever-cheerful demeanor, compassionate nature and generous spirit. A "healer" to her core, Dr. Howell is quick to connect with people and find the source of their injuries - both physical and emotional. "
